Mark Millar Plans for New Superman Trilogy; $70 Million Budget for Kick-Ass

In an interview with G4, comic book writer Mark Millar (Wanted) revealed his plans for a new trilogy of Superman films, which he would like to be shot back-to-back.

“A director approached me about three months ago,” Millar said. “and he said ‘look, [Bryan Singer's] The Man Of Steel might not be happening. If that doesn’t happen, it has been spoken about the possibility of me coming in, would you like to write it?’ And I was like Yeah.”

Yeah, we have already heard this before, but here is where the juicy details come in:

“I’ve had this plan for like 10 years for a big three-picture Superman thing, like a big Lord of the Rings epic, starting over from scratch again with a seven-hour Superman story. And hopefully release them one year after another,” continued Millar. “If it works out, we’ll have to start shooting next summer.”

After many angry complants about choosing Watchmen over Quantum of Solace, I thought that I may as well start a countdown thread for this movie. These seem to be rather popular, and I put this down to the medals, so accordingly I have changed the rules for this one a little bit. Like the Watchmen thread, the rules are as follows:

Well, all news, on-set pictures, screenshots, official posters, fan art, trailers, video previews, articles... pretty much anything! Everything and anything Quantum of Solace is too be posted up right here, it will be the one stop thread!

Will our efforts in keeping this thread alive be rewarded?
Yes, and here is the catch! 500 posts will now be the norm on these threads, but for this one we are going for something a bit different. From now until Friday the 12th, you, our precise members, get to design and post up what you want the medal to be. After this point, the admins will then choose a winner, the winner will get a super exclusive medal (1 of a kind in fact) as well as have their design become the Quantum of Solace medal! Sounds cool ey.

Studio Ghilbi Boxset...

Hi Guys, I have put this in the DVD section and most of these aren't on Blu Ray yet.

I'm looking to purpose the Studio Ghibli Collection, I loved spirited away and want to get the rest of them. I know they are still making them, but from my understanding they released a box set sometime back.

JB are selling the DVD's for $30 each at the moment

I can only think of so few and that's because a lot of times the 2nd movie ends up being the best.

But I came up with 2 examples.

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

I Am Legend - Original Ending vs. Cinema Ending (Spoilers)

Ok so I bought the I Am Legend 2 disc special edition the other day, I didn't hugely like the movie in cinemas but that was due to the poor ending. So out of curiosity I picked it up to see what the original ending was like. I enjoyed the movie a hell of lot more with the original ending, I thought that the film was wrapped up much neater and displayed much more heart then the ending that they showed at the cinema. I also thought that the original ending sets the movie up for what could have been a great and very thrilling sequel, sadly they are now making a prequel, which seems dull when compared to what could have been. It seems that I Am Legend is a good movie, but only when the original ending is seen.

What do you guys think?

Well, I'm sure it's the movie that all, or at least most people fear for at this very moment. Anyways, some new stills from the trailer (which is set to debut on October 17th with Max Payne) have made their way across the internet. They look horrible, especially Piccolo who is downright creep (in a bad way, almost pedophile way). But I will admit that poster doesn't look too bad, although by looking at it you wouldn't see it as a DragonBall movie at all.

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a new amp to best unleash the audio power of Blu Ray.

I currently have a Sony STR540B(which doesn't output HD sound or anything more than 2.1 PCM) & Jamo A320 speakers.

I'm looking for an amp with at least 3 HDMI inputs(for my plasma, PS3 & Foxtel IQ2) & all the new HD audio output formats.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I was watching an interview with Brendan Fraser on Rove the other day and they began talking about another of Fraser's upcoming work, Journey to the Center of the Earth, which is coming out towards the end of the month only a few weeks after his new Mummy flick. Anyways, it's also going to be released in 3D and looks pretty cool in my opinion.

Man, it was one freakin' funny movie!!!

My favorite moments were:

When the group are stranded, and they're trying to convince the German truck-driver to take them to Berlin. However, Scott's German is not as good as he thinks it is. So the only word the truck-driver actually understands is "Berlin". He eventually understands that they want him to give them a ride, and he does give them one. He unsuccessfully tries to tell them that, because of his criminal past, he refuses to go anywhere near Berlin. But, all they understand, too, is the word "Berlin"! So, they think he's driving them straight into Berlin, but he really drops them off in the middle of that desolate wasteland known as Eastern Europe!

Also, the scenes featuring that creepy Italian guy on board the train ("Mi scusi!") were absolutely priceless!

And, Vinnie Jones was (surprisingly!) funny as the leader of the crazy group of Manchester United fans! "If you're not a Manc, you're a w*nk!"

Tonight, I'm planning to watch the Unrated version of The Girl Next Door. I'm hoping it'll be as funny as EuroTrip: Unrated was!

It's the spanish trailer, so sorry for you guys that don't know the language. The movie premieres in Spain next week and it's being released as a single 268 minute film, contrary to the version we might see in the US (that is, if anyone finally agrees to distribute it) which would be divided into two films: The Argentine and Guerrilla.

So far, I really like what I'm seeing.

The backlash against Citizen Kane is weird. SPOILERS

This seems to me like a very recent development. After Citizen Kane was given it's proper re-release (it was pretty much banned for a while), it was universally regarded by filmmakers and critics as one of the top movies of all time. On many lists it was number 1.

I first watched Citizen Kane in 2001. I was not a film buff at the time. I rented it because I heard it was good, and I had no prejudice against a movie for being old or black & white. I only knew that it was a classic. I rented the VHS from Blockbuster. It enthralled me. From beginning to end it completely blew me away. I was amazed. I thought it was a powerful and amazing movie, and it's the single reason why I became so interested in movies as a serious hobby.

In recent years, both on this board and on Criterionforum.com, I've noticed a backlash against the movie. They claim that they respect it's technical qualities and it's cinematography, but they think it's boring and overrated. This opinion seems to be growing, at least to my observation.

Now, when I first watched it, and honestly for the next several viewings, I had no conscious admiration for the groundbreaking cinematography. What I mean is, I didn't notice it at all. I simply viewed the movie and got absorbed in the story. I had no idea that it was such a technical achievement, and honestly I never noticed any of the special effects until I watched the Roger Ebert commentary and pointed so many of them out to me.

What a brilliant performance by DDL. Very Oscar worthy. An absolutely stunning piece of cinema this film is. A fantastic character study. I was intruiged throughout the entire running time. And that last scene! Absolutely amazing! That may have won him the Oscar single handedly!

And it's a brilliant disc as well. The picture is sublime and there are some really great extras in there too!

What movies in the future do you think will have potential to gross over $500 million?

I'd say Iron Man 2 and obviously the 3rd Nolan Batman movie.

Now I post this article up cause this is the only thing I have heard about in regards to this project.

I seriously thought they would have given up or at least had the respect to leave it at 3, but obviously I was wrong. That being said, it could one of three ways... it could be great re-boot of the franchise like Batman Begins, it could be complete tank like Batman & Robin or could be enjoyable/fun like The Incredible Hulk.

I have no expectations for the 4th movie, I doubt Tobey and Kirsten will re-sign and after Pineapple Express I can see Franco's career moving forward. I also highly doubt that Raimi will return, as he has decided to return to his horror roots (party!).

So with no expectations, this film could surprise me, but its not looking good!

When you look at the cover, you either think it's a sequel to 'The Day After Tomorrow' or some piece of ****. But it's nothing like that. You'll either love this movie, or absolutely hate it. It's the way it works, and I'm sorry. But, that's the way it has to be. Love it, or hate it, and I love it! I think it is a really different and great idea, and it smoothed out well for me. The only downside is, there was some good talent gone to waste, and the fact that the enemy was a giant crab. But, still a very enjoyable movie to watch, and has you biting you nails the whole way through. Your thoughts?

I love this Australia western, and it's been out in the US for a while, but still no word on an Australia release on Blu-Ray. How ironic.
